A Word on Instruments – Each child must have an instrument for both the classes and for practice at home. Toys are not musical instruments. Avoid WalMart. Buy from a local music store.

Internet bargains - Any local music dealer will match an Internet price. For young beginners, a half-size or three-quarter-size guitar is highly recommended. Either electric or acoustic will do. An electric guitar requires an amplifier.

Case/bag - A guitar should have a case or bag to protect it when (not if) it is dropped.

Build your "Rig" - Keep the guitar and case together along with the necessities – a strap that fits, some guitar picks, a polishing cloth, a tuner, and spare strings.

Left-handed beginners should purchase a right-handed guitar.

Teaching Method – Each student is approached as a separate challenge. No single method works for all. Above all, every effort is made to guide each individual through the awkward, early learning stages in a way that both preserves and heightens the student’s initial enthusiasm for learning to play the guitar.
